DESCRIPTION

\Location

Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) is in the Western Region of Uganda, spanning the districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi, and Rukungiri. The park is approximately 400 kilometres (250 mi) by road south-west of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city.\

The park was founded in 1952 as Kazinga National Park by combining the Lake George and Lake Edward Game Reserves It was renamed two years later to commemorate a visit by Queen Elizabeth II. \

QENP occupies an estimated 1,978 square kilometres (764 sq mi).[14] The park is known for its abundant wildlife, including African elephant, African buffalo, Ugandan kob, hippopotamus, topi, waterbuck, warthog, giant forest hog, Nile crocodile, leopard, spotted hyena, chimpanzee and lion. Overall, the park is home to 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species. The area around Ishasha in Rukungiri District is famous for its tree-climbing lions, whose males often sport black manes. In 2020, Uganda Wildlife Authority executive director Samuel John Mwandha stated that the wildlife in park has been increasing in the last five years.

ITINERARY

DAY 1

We shall pick you from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe early in the morning at 9am, and set off on the journey to QUEEN ELIZABETH national park, with a stop over at the equator, where the world is divided into north and southern hemispheres.

We shall stop over at 2pm in Mbarara city, for lunch and then tour Igongo cultural museum at 3pm, and then  to Kasese/where we shall check intoeither Kingfisher,or Engiri, or samba safari camp/ lodge for dinner and the night.

DAY 2

We shall rise early,(5am) to embark on our game drive as early as 6am, In order to boost our chances of spotting the big cats like lions and leopards.

The Queen Elizabeth national park game trails are rich in mammals of all kinds, from , elephants, wathogs,lions, leopards, different species of antelope,hyenas, etc.

The park also boasts of a unique boat cruise in its own way down the Kazinga channel that connects Lake George and Edward. We shall see hippopotamuses, crocodiles and other reptiles and mammals, along this channel.

DAY 3

After a very exciting safari, we shall head back to Kampala on day 3.
